Copywriting comes in a variety of different shapes and sizes. You might want to improve your copywriting skills to create better converting sales pages, improve email conversion rates, or just to create more compelling content on your website or blog. Regardless of why you want to improve you copywriting skills, there are a few simple tips that can make a world of difference. Here are 5 tips to help you build a strong foundation for these skills.

1.Size Matters

Unfortunately, there isn’t a hard-and-fast rule about how long your copy should be. For blog posts, it is normally recommended to stay around 350-500 words, however shorter posts have been very successful as well as much longer posts. For a sales page, the general rule of thumb is the more that a product costs, the longer the sales page should be. However, with more video and audio being added to these pages, the length is always changing. Overall, your copy should be as long as it needs to be. This means that you need to make sure that your copy includes everything that a prospective buyer would want to know, while also not adding more than they want.

2.Stay Simple

One of the biggest problems that copywriters run into is that they out-think themselves. In order to create compelling copy, you need to keep it concise and focused Don’t be afraid to keep the overall flow conversational. You aren’t there to lecture your readers, you are there to engage and persuade your readers. No one will be upset if your copy is simple, however you will turn people off if it is too complex.

3.Laser Focus Formatting

You need to make sure that the format of your copy is laser focused. This is made easier by keeping your copy fairly simple. This means that each paragraph should contain one thought and one thought only. Every paragraph should have a specific point and supporting content. At the end of each paragraph, your main point should be restated.

4.Make Reading Easy

Your potential customers want to be able to read your copy. In order to facilitate this, you need to have the copywriting skills to give them what they want. This means that you need to make sure that there are no spelling or grammar errors and that it is formatted so that it is not only easy to read, but also easy to scan.

5.Start Strong

The first thing that everyone is going to see is your headline, so it needs to be a good one. If your readers don’t find the headline
interesting, then they are not going to even look at your copy. Think of your headline as your first impression. If it isn’t good, then people are going to leave your page. In some circles, it has been argued that up to 50% of your total creation time should be spent solely on your headline.

By implementing these 5 tips, you can instantly improve your copywriting skills. You need to recognize that the size of your copy needs to be relative to the product or service that you are promoting. You need to keep your overall copy simple for readers to digest. The best way to do this is to laser focus your formatting. You also need to double and triple check for errors that make it more difficult to read your copy, such as misspelled words. Finally, you need to give your headline the attention that it deserves.

To your success,

Affiliate forums are popping up all over the internet. Some are created solely for affiliate marketers while others are general internet marketing forums that have a section dedicated to affiliate marketing.

These forums can be very powerful tools for building and maintaining your own affiliate army. The key is to identify which forums are going to give you the best results as well as creating an effective strategy to utilize them. Using forums in this way requires a long term strategy in order to gain the maximum results.

How to Find Affiliate Forums

Search engines are going to normally be you best tool for finding affiliate forums and general internet marketing forums. There are two ways to decide which forums are going to be the best for your products.

The first way is to contact forum owners directly. Many of them will be happy to work with you to ensure that you can get what you need. In some cases, they will set up a section just for you.

At minimum, they can create a sticky thread for you and your affiliates to use. The second way is to post a thread of your own on a wide variety of forums and monitor the responses. You then send a PM or Personal Message to everyone that responds to your thread. You can then funnel everyone into a single forum or your own private affiliate members area.

Using Affiliate Forums to Build Your Army

Once you have found the forums that you plan on using to communicate with affiliates, the next step is creating a strategy to utilize the forum effectively. The first thing that you need to keep in mind is that activity is key. The reason that forums are great tools is because it allows you to create an open dialog with affiliates. If you are not constantly responding to questions and alerting affiliates then you will not gain anything. In fact, because you are being non-responsive in such a public arena, it can give you a very bad reputation in general as an affiliate manager.

Another way to utilize affiliate forums that most people overlook is gathering negative criticism. If everything is telling you how great your affiliate program is then you won’t know what to do in order to improve it. When you see a negative comment, you should not only make a note of it, but respond to it. If you don’t understand the comment, ask a question. You can also respond with 2 or 3 potential solutions and find out which one would make your affiliates the happiest. It also shows people who are looking for an affiliate program to promote that you will not only provide them with a good opportunity but will also help them be successful.

Affiliate forums also provide you with a unique way to reach affiliates that you would never come into contact with otherwise. Forums have RSS feeds that get shared across the web and syndicated through a number of RSS aggregation sites. This means that your comments and replies will be shown across the web, not only within the confines of the forum itself.

As you can see, there are a number of different ways that you can utilize affiliate forums and general internet marketing forums to recruit and maintain an army of affiliate marketers who will be eager to promote your products. The best part is that a majority of affiliate managers and product creators overlook forums as effective marketing tool, which means that you will be facing a fairly low level of direct competition.

To your success,

Blogging has proven to be a very profitable venture for some internet marketers over the last few years. Businesses have discovered that blogging can be used to improve their customer relations and conversion rates using a similar strategy. Unfortunately, most business blogs leave a lot to be desired. They are bland, uninformative, and do not really connect with their readers.

If you are going to start and maintain a business blog for your home based business or to build your online brand, then it is essential that you utilize it in the most effective way possible. The only way to do this is creating posts that people want to read. Here are 3 tips that help you improve your business blog with little effort.

1.A Dash of Art

Many business blogs fail because so much emphasis is placed on the SEO criteria of effective content creation that they forget that they are writing for real people, not just the search engines. While a quality post is still going to be more science than art, the art cannot be dismissed completely. You need to utilize writing methods that draw in and relate to readers. The easiest way to do this is to start off with a quick story to illustrate the point you are about to make. Using metaphors and similes are ideal for this situation. They will not only engage your readers by grabbing their attention, it will also help your audience understand the topics that you will be discussing.

2.Short and Sweet

It is surprising how much the length of your post can affect how many people actually read it. In most cases, shorter is always going to be better. If you can make your point with fewer words, then you should do it. This will not only make your posts easier to read, but will also ensure that your content is focused If you notice that you are writing 1000 words for every post, then there is a good chance that you are covering multiple topics and could turn that single post into a small series of posts.

3.Stay Updated

The reason that blogs gather a larger following than static websites is because the content is updated much more often. There are a lot of different theories about how often you should post on a business blog. These recommendations range from every 3 days or once a week to once a month. The bigger issue isn’t how often you post, but rather that you post regularly. If you decide to post once a week, then you need to stay dedicated to that plan. Nothing will kill a business blog faster than never updating the content.

If you follow these three tips, then you can improve the results that you get from your business blog very quickly. A lot of people may understand these concepts, but are still having problems implementing them.

Fortunately, there is a way to solve this problem as well. The first step is to make sure that you are reading on a daily basis. Make sure to read blogs and books because you will not only find inspiration for post topics, but will also be able to notice how others are following these three tips. By seeing live examples, it can be much easier to really understand the core of these tips and implement them more effectively.

To your success,

It doesn’t matter if you are a local business or multi-national powerhouse, there are several steps that need to be taken before you start your first online advertising campaign. A lot of businesses make the mistake of thinking that all they need to do is create a website and everything else will work itself out.

The truth is that an effective online advertising campaign is that often be more difficult than a traditional print or media campaign This is because there are a lot more variables in play. If you are a small business or home based business and plan on taking your first shot at advertising online, then these 4 steps should be added to your pre-advertising task list.

1.Your Target Market

If you are planning to advertise for a business that has already established itself, there is a good chance that you already have a target market online. The problem is that you must create a very precise target market for online advertising to be effective. The easiest way to do this is by writing a short paragraph about your target market. What characteristics do they have that is unique. Next, you need to identify what you are offering that can somehow benefit them. This will give you a much clearer idea of how to effectively communicate with them online.

2.Defining the Value

Once you know who your target market is, the next step is defining your own value proposition. This should be the reason or reasons that your target market should choose your business over all of your competitors. In the past, the only way to do this was to contact your market directly and ask them. However, because you are focusing on online advertising, it is important to get these answers online. This will ensure that you understand your online market, not your overall market. Creating online surveys or engaging with customers via social media can give you this information very quickly. In many cases, you can get actionable advice that can immediately implemented.

3.Defining the Message

Now that you have established the value that you will bring to your target market, the next step is to define your message. Many people have trouble distinguishing between the value proposition and the key message. The value proposition should be characteristics that make your businesses unique whereas the key messages should be the method of communicating those characteristics.

4.Research Your Competition

There is a good chance that your small business has already identified the competition and gathered information about them, but how much of this information is about their online involvement. You need to find out how they are advertising online and what their overall online presence is. This includes noting their involvement with pay per click advertising, social media advertising, and how visible they are in organic search results.

As you can see there is a lot of information to gather and analyze and inadequate preparation will almost certainly doom your first online advertising adventure to failure. When all of this information is compiled, you should know exactly who your online target market is, where you can find and engage them, what your message will be, and who you will be competing against. Now that you know all of this, it will be easier to not only create the type of advertisements but also allow you to more effectively integrate those advertisements with your online presence to get maximum results.

To your success,

There is no doubt that social media has become a regular part of most people’s lives. The internet has become much more of a social environment rather than an archive of information. On a daily basis, there are more than 110 million tweets. Facebook is getting an even larger percentage of peoples’ attention than Twitter.

With this new found passion for the social web, businesses have been sent scurrying to try and get their slice of the pie by engaging the social web. A large part of this strategy has to do with public relations, dealing with both positive news and responding to negative critiques. Here are 3 examples of how social media has changed the way that businesses approach public relations forever.

1.Engaging

One of the biggest changes to the public relations arena is that businesses can no longer talk at their audience, but must directly engage with them. Two way communication has become the standard for public relations and this is not likely to change. The average person is now a much more active part of the process. The benefit of engaging in two way conversation with the target market is that it softens the brands image. It also eliminates that barrier between a company and individual consumers.

2.Sharing

Another huge change that social media has caused is the sharing of information. The speed that information is shared today is exponentially faster than it was even a decade ago. Public relations professionals are leveraging the information being shared to do more precise market research which can help them position their company to create positive brand awareness. Information sharing has also changed the dynamic between PR professionals and the press. Journalists not only search the internet for information but are also very active sharing it. This means that getting in touch with journalists is much easier than it was a decade ago, thus PR professionals can get their story to the masses faster.

3.Individualization

The increased access to social media outlets has made consumers expect more in terms of individualization. They are much less receptive to mass information or non-targeted information. Instead, they expect to be addressed more personally. Part of this stems from the two-way communication that is taking place. This can potentially cause huge problems for PR professionals because one angry customer can make a single post on Facebook and start a mass backlash. In the past, this process took much longer. Hundreds of customers would have to complain and the story would have to be published somewhere. Today, this can all happen within a matter of minutes on Facebook alone, not including any leakage of the backlash to other social sites. This means that PR professionals are not only on the clock 24/7, it also means that they have to gauge each mini-backlash and determine whether or not it requires immediate attention.

Over the last decade, public relations as a whole has undergone a huge change. Previously, PR professionals would need to do little more than create a press release or hold a conference. Today, they are expected to leverage social media in order to improve brand awareness and acceptance. This includes creating a constant two way conversation with the target market, making sure that important information is being shared rapidly, and creating very targeted social media campaigns. Not only is this much more difficult in general, but it has also become a job that never sleeps because millions of people are on social media sites at any given moment.

To your success,

For years now entrepreneurs have constantly pursued careers online with the hopes of striking gold in affiliate marketing and rightfully so. After all, there are millions of businesses, programs, systems and opportunities to take advantage of. But the competition has become so intense it is extremely difficult to find any sort of success online today. But that is about to change.

The future of affiliate marketing looks far brighter than most would imagine. This is by no means an industry that has peaked. There is hope for those still looking to find their riches within a business category unlike anything ever to make way. And that hope lies within focusing locally.

It only makes sense to start targeting those who are nearby. How many entrepreneurs do you really think there will be to fight off near you? It can be troubling jumping online trying to find prospects amidst a crowd of millions of other entrepreneurs aiming for the same audience. But now is the time to target a different crowd, a different audience, a different customer base.

It is amazing to think network marketing and affiliate marketing have not gone local sooner. While there are forms of it that have been around for years, not to the extent that can help you completely revamp your business. Rather than wasting your time in an industry that is flooded with competition, you can finally reach interested prospects who have not been touched.

Google has slowly turned to the local market, there are hundreds of local businesses to choose from.

Now is the time to secure your position for the future by taking advantage of everything local has to offer. There is no need to battle the large companies or millions of entrepreneurs with the same mindset as you. Local is the answer to all of the woes you have faced trying to track down the perfect audience.

To your Success,

It doesn’t matter if this is your first time choosing a web hosting service provider or the hundredth the steps are going to be the same. Many people already know what their decision calculus will be, the problem arises during the research phase. It doesn’t matter how great your decision matrix is if you are using poor information to make your final selection. That means that online research is definitely a skill that you need to have.

Researching potential web hosting service providers online is fairly similar to other products, however there is one big difference. Hosting companies tend to have more affiliates and resellers promoting their services than anything else. So what do you need to know before you begin in order to filter out misleading information and gather exactly what you need?

The first thing that most people do is search for reviews. However, in order to do this effectively, you need to be able identify which reviews are legit and which ones are really just affiliates and resellers pitching their products. In general, blogs are a terrible resource for this type of information. There are two reasons fort his. The first is that a majority of affiliates use blogs to create a “personalized perspective” about their products in order to make sales rather than share real experiences. The second issue is that forums and other similar resources will often give you a higher percentage of unbiased reviews than blogs.

Now that you understand that, in general, forums and product review sites are likely to be your best potential resources, it is time to understand how they work. In a normal business, who do think managers and owners hear from the most – people who love their products or hate their products? For the most part, people who have a bad experience are more likely to share it than those who are satisfied with the product. This is incredibly important information when it comes to online research. Almost every hosting company will have more negative reviews than positive reviews. This isn’t because all hosting providers are poor, rather it is just the nature of the beast.

Additionally, you need to make sure that all of your research is done with your future in mind. A large number of people will sign up for a hosting service and be forced to switch providers within the first few years. Sometimes it is simply because their first choice wasn’t a good one, but most of the time it is because they did not research with their future in mind. It is always a much better idea to research providers that currently over-meet your needs because that will allow you to “grow into them”. If you don’t want to pay for the extra services up front, then make sure that you target all of your research on hosting providers that will allow you to upgrade your package without actually have to change your DNS settings or move your website.

As you can see, there is a lot to keep in mind when researching web hosting service providers online. The first thing that you need to understand is that there are a larger number of affiliates, which means more biased reviews, for hosting services than most other products and services sold online. Second, you need to realize that when using forums, there will almost always be more complaints than compliments, so make sure to keep all of the negative reviews in perspective based on their content rather than their volume. Finally, always make sure that you are doing all of your research with the future in mind.

To your success,

When it comes to running an online business, most people will quickly drop services that don’t produce results. If their SEO company isn’t providing high enough rankings they will find a new company to use. If their website is poorly designed, they will find someone to redesign it. If their content creators or social network experts are not meeting expectations they will find someone else.

In spite of that, however, web hosting providers seem to get a pass. Most people feel that moving their website is a difficult task, which is why they hesitate to change their hosting company, even when they think that a change should be made. In most cases, the question is no longer is the hosting company meeting expectations, but rather the question is whether or not the hosting company is doing poor enough to justify the change.

When trying to decide if it time to switch hosting providers, there are a number of different variables that you can look at, however there are certain ones that tend to be the most important. The most important issues all fall under the same general category, which is often referred to as “the basics”. The basics are the things that almost every hosting provider highlights on their sales page. This would include things like allowed bandwidth, disk space, uptime, and software compatibility. If your hosting company is currently failing to meet your requirements in any of these categories then making a switch should be considered a priority. If your website is down more often than it should be, then you need to make a change. Most of the top tier hosting providers offer a 99.99% uptime guarantee, which means that your website will be down a maximum of a few minutes per month for maintenance.

If you find that your hosting provider is not compatible with key pieces of software then you should definitely make the change as well. There is no point in sticking with your current provider if they are preventing you from using tools that will increase your profits. For example, let’s so that you have a piece of software that will convert 5 additional leads per month and at least one of these leads will convert into a sale. If you pay a high end programmer to move your entire website, it should still cost less than $100. This means that economically, paying a professional to move your website to a more compatible hosting service will be a more profitable move in the long run.

If your web hosting provider does meet all of your basic needs, then it is time to look into the extras. If you are only considering making a switch because of “extras” like unlimited video hosting or a reduced monthly rate then it could be a little harder to decide whether or not to make the switch. It comes down to a cost-benefit analysis. If you will save more money in the long run, or increase your level of profits then making the switch should be a no-brainer. However, if you just want to try out a new piece of software that they are offering or feel like they are just a better choice then the decision could be a little more difficult to make because it becomes more of a judgment call.

In the end, there are two different potential categories to decide whether or not you should switch hosting providers. The first category is “the basics”. If your reason for considering a switch falls into the “basics” category then deciding to make the switch should be automatic. When your hosting provider does not offer you everything that you need to be profitable, then you should definitely move on. On the other hand, if your reason to switch hosting providers falls in the category of “extras” then making your final decision can be a little more difficult. It comes down to deciding whether or not it is a good long term decision. If you aren’t sure, you can always set up a smaller “test” account with the provider that you are considering.

To your success,
